Frequently asked questions

About Bluehall

What is Bluehall?
Bluehall is an immersive AI tutoring platform that feels like a personal, real teacher beside you. You can speak, type, upload photos, and work on a live collaborative shared whiteboard while the tutor simultaneously explains aloud, generates working, diagrams, and graphs, and guides you step-by-step, adapting to the way you think. Based in Australia, Bluehall currently provides premade curriculums for Australian high school and university students today as well as the option to build your own course. Bluehall is expanding its curriculum base to support students from all around the world.
How is Bluehall different from ChatGPT?
A chatbot is a text box you type into. Bluehall is a tutoring session. You speak to it and it speaks back, you both work together in the same space simultaneously. The tutor can read your handwriting on the whiteboard, or see the uploaded photo of your physical work. It does not just answer, it teaches, leading you through a problem and checking you understand. And it remembers you, so every session builds on the last.
Will it just give me the answer?
By default, no. Bluehall teaches: it leads you through the problem and checks that you understand, rather than handing over a finished answer. It is built to teach and help you learn, not to do your work for you.

In a tutoring session

What happens during a tutoring session?
You talk with your tutor and share a whiteboard. You can write, speak, or take a photo of your work, and the tutor works through it with you, drawing and explaining at the same time.
Can the tutor really see my handwriting?
Yes. Write on the whiteboard or take a photo of your work, and Bluehall reads what you have done and responds to it.
Does it create diagrams and graphs?
Yes. When an explanation needs a picture, Bluehall draws one for your specific problem, and when an equation needs a graph, it plots it with your numbers.
What do I get after a session?
Every session is summarised so you can see what you covered, and Bluehall suggests what to revise next based on where you got stuck.

The platform and subjects

What is included beyond the tutor?
An educational platform: curriculum library, calendar, goals, notes, past results, study plans, problem generation, quick chat, and session history. Use as much or as little as you like. The tutor works either way, and gets more personalised the more you use.
Which subjects and curricula are covered?
Bluehall covers a broad and growing range of subjects and curricula, including the Australian state and territory curricula and the IB, with more international curricula and additional languages on the way, as well as expanding into language education. If you cannot find what you are looking for from our pre-made courses you can create your own.

Safety and trust

Is my data safe?
Bluehall is built to the Australian Privacy Principles. We are clear about what we collect and why, and your work is kept secure.
Can I see what Bluehall knows about me?
Yes. You can see what Bluehall has learned about you at any time. None of it is hidden from you.
Can parents stay involved?
Yes, by choice. Parents can have their own view of session summaries, progress, and study plans, so they can stay in the loop without looking over your shoulder. They can also control what tutoring modes a linked dependent account can access. A parent account can also manage billing for a linked dependent account. Parents can also request a copy of their child’s data, or request that it be deleted.
